Case Study / Pet Furniture

Pet Furniture: treating cats as family.

Cat furniture that treats cats as family and sits naturally alongside furniture for people. James Wright’s work with anicom spanned product planning, design and making.

Context and role

From a broad theme to a furniture concept.

Starting from a broad theme set by anicom, James Wright developed the product ideas and took on the concept and product design.

Two priorities shaped the designs: treating cats as members of the family, and making furniture that would sit comfortably alongside the other furniture in a home.

This portfolio includes work by James Allen Wright before WRIGHT DESIGN llc was incorporated.

Topics to discuss

When a product idea needs a design direction.

Early product development is a useful time to discuss questions such as:

  • Who is this product for, and what should make it valuable to them?
  • Which direction should we take from several possible ideas?
  • How can a product concept be developed into a form people can use?
